Out With the Old …

Well, we did it!

January, however you ring it in – Dry, Vegan, Budgetuary – is on its way out, and we celebrated every week in demure style, trading in raucous cocktail hours for fresh and active days – weekend hikes, ski weekends, movie nights, and spa retreats – with satisfying, elegant vegetarian menus that double as totable desk lunches for those of us looking to tighten the purse strings as well as the belt. We also enjoyed a series of temperance cocktails (with an optional wink of the good stuff.)

I’m proud of us.

I’ve also spent the last few days seeking out suet for an upcoming pastry crust. More on that later.

Before we officially roll out the hedonistic red carpet for the Age of Aquarius, and my birthday month, we have one last, healthy adventure. And, friends, I think I’ve saved the best for last.

Our dinner party menu this week is delicious, easy, and fresh with unexpected flavours:

  • A Middle Eastern spin on a salad packed with fresh herbs and a creamy Labneh dressing

  • Aloo Tikki Chole Chaat, an addictive northern Indian snack that I’m eating as dinner (and literally all day yesterday)

  • And finally, have you heard of a shrub? Not the bushy thing on your … front lawn. Metaphorically and literally. The ancient Babylonian drink that’s made a roaring comeback with seekers of the fountain of youth and good taste. Trust me, you want this in your beverage tool kit.

And we have the BEST activity.
