🎶 Go, Erin… It’s My Birthday … 🎶
Friends, in TWO days, I enter my last year of my 40’s.
On February 14, at approximately 5:30pm, (Babs doesn’t quite remember the exact time I shot out of her loins, but I like to believe my birth was in time for cocktail hour) I will be 49 years old.
Despite how media, and my mother, try to make me feel about it, I’m quite delighted to get older. It beats the alternative. I truly – honestly – feel like every year, and every decade, just gets better. I wouldn’t go back to my 20’s or 30’s, or even my early 40’s, if you paid me.
It’s not that those years were abysmal. They were great! Fun and awful and interesting and boring and adventurous and terrible and stressful and beautiful. The way life is and should be, if you’re lucky. Lessons learned and growth experienced, etc., etc.
I took a few moments to write down 12 lessons I’ve learned, usually the hard way, that I know to be true. They’re quite honest and revealing, so I had to put them behind the paywall. After years of working in media, and speaking in front of large groups as a professional drinker, I’ve grown accustomed to – and even comfortable with – making a tit out of myself, but some things are best not broadcast with a bullhorn.
On the upside, if you haven’t yet upgraded to a premium Quaintrelle membership, for the next 49 hour I’m offering 49% off an annual membership.
(I’m turning 49, so it’s 49% off for 49 hours… clever, right?!?)
