When You Wish Upon a Blue Moon

The subtle art of manifesting (and a fortune-seeking Oysters Rockefeller.)

This is not the Blue Moon I saw. Despite the clear skies over Toronto, I didn’t see any moon, blue or otherwise, at all. But then again, I’m in bed by 10, so that could have something to do with it.

How did you celebrate last night’s Blue Moon?

I celebrated the auspicious start of Sag season by casting a few spells.

No, no, not to worry. Nothing like that.

I’m a benevolent witch, casting my spells only for fortune and favour – if you can call greedily focusing on me benevolence.

I learned of this spell casting from my friend Kait, a professional astrologer and tarot card reader.

I know a few of you may be racing to the “unsubscribe” button as you read this, but stick with me.

Spell-casting is basically another version of manifesting. And I’m a big believer in manifesting. The home I have now I manifested.

Now I’m ready for something different.

I’m at the starting line of my 50’s (technically, I’m 50 and 3½ months) and I’m determined not to let my 50’s be a dull repeat of my 40’s – a decade that I can only describe as uneventful. Yes, yes, it’s natural for decades to level out after the tumultuous spin through the 20’s and 30’s (Graduation! Job! Promotion! New house! New partner! New breakup! Etc) but I found my 40’s so level they were nearly flat.

And, as I also feel about heart monitors and champagne, flat is not what I want for my life.

I want change and adventure and things to keep me engaged and interested – and interesting.

Not in the, let’s-jump-out-of-a-plane kind of way, but in a way that allows me to live the life I daydream about.

Journalist Oliver Burkeman, author of Four Thousand Weeks, has a thought that most of us live like our lives haven’t actually started yet. We say we’ll do whatever is important to us one day… when we lose 10 pounds, when the kids leave for college, when we get a promotion, when we get married, when we retire…. When, when, when. And when never comes because there’s always another when.

(By the way… Steven Pressfield calls this waiting game Resistance.)

So, with Kait’s careful instruction on how to harness the power of the rare blue moon, I cast a spell for my future.

As far as spell casting goes, the steps are fairly straight forward.

Alright friends, this is where the curtain falls.

If you would like to join us for a little manifesting and a few ideason what I’m casting for my future self, you can do so for as little as $6 Cad per month.

And, of now is not the time to upgrade, please know I am forever grateful for your time and attention, no matter how you subscribe.
