As I mentioned separately, I will *definitely* be making this shrimp recipe 🤤
I loved your reflections on your alcohol-free stretch, too! I’m a pretty light drinker and have loved ones in recovery, so I’ve appreciated the cultural shift towards better NA drink options/acceptance of sobriety. And I *also* continue to appreciate the joys of cooking and eating a great meal with a glass of wine, which you describe so beautifully here! It’s always fascinating to hear how others find their own personal definition of “balance,” whatever that means for them.
We're living in a quick-to-offend world, so I was worried my reflections, while tongue-in-cheek, would be met with criticism over downplaying the reality of dependancy and unhealthy relationships with alcohol. Nothing could be further from the truth, and I'm so happy you saw the humour I intended. (Although those influencers really can take a hike – and take their hemp yoga mats with them. 😆)
Oof, I feel that. It’s such a hard line to walk—not watering down your voice, while also trying to account for every possible reading of your words! I struggle with this all the time.
Re: influencers: the minute anything becomes trendy, even a lifestyle change that’s positive for lots of people, there will *always* be a subset of people who make it insufferable. 😅
I’m trying to bolster my strength to say what I would like to say, trust readers are intuitive, sophisticated, and smart enough to discern dry humour from actual fact. The writing I admire most has a strong POV, and toes the line to controversial, but the writers boldly forge on seemingly giving zero effs. I remind myself of this when penning my prose. (It’s also a fine line between opinion and obnoxious, but I try to toe it. )
I am on a self-imposed regimen that features adult beverages only on weekends(Fri, Sat & Sun.) Mostly. You’re surely familiar with the rule: Everything in Moderation, Including Moderation.

I am so relieved you feel that way, Maddie!

Ugh. Two both points.

Couldn't agree more re: writing I admire—and I think you do this beautifully!
Awww. Thanks, pal. 🥰
